Ryan Dumas is a dramaturgically-minded project manager, fundraiser, producer, and consultant for non-profit organizations specializing in philanthropy, strategy, and finance with a particular focus on the arts & culture sector. His practice centers both holistic qualitative evaluation and rigorous data-based analysis from a project’s inception to best serve all stakeholders. His specialties include campaign management, prospect research, institutional giving, and both financial and data analytics.
Currently, Ryan serves as a consultant at CCS Fundraising, providing embedded advisory services to create and implement impactful development plans for nonprofits. At CCS, Ryan has led partnerships across the arts, higher education, association, and foundation sectors with clients such as the Library of Virginia Foundation, the Woodruff Arts Center, Reading is Fundamental, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Broward College, the National Association of Cancer Center Development Officers, and Hagerstown Community College, alongside engagement services with the National Links Trust, Georgetown Preparatory School, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the Delaware Community Foundation. In these engagements Ryan has conducted over 100 strategic discussions with stakeholders to assess organizational and philanthropic perception, personally solicited over $22 million in gift indications, designed and implemented multiple comprehensive campaigns to raise over $209 million from local and national donors, led strategic planning processes to advance transformational organizational change, designed consistent and comprehensive financial policies for organizations across sectors and philanthropic readiness levels, and assessed sector-wide performance through data analytics.
Prior to joining CCS, Ryan worked extensively in the arts & culture sector as a fundraiser, consultant, producer, and dramaturg for theatre, dance, and opera companies on Broadway, in New York City, and regionally including Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Roundabout Theatre Company, the Alley Theatre, William Morris Endeavor, PlayPenn, the Drama League, and Fringe Arts Philadelphia. He is the creator of the New Works Risk Assessment Calculator, a season-planning tool for nonprofit theatres combining dramaturgical and managerial considerations, and has consulted for the Sweetwater Center for the Arts, On Site Opera, and Mattel, Inc.
Ryan holds a BFA in Dramaturgy and Master of Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a proud member of both the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Literary Managers & Dramaturgs of the Americas, and was selected for the TEDxBroadway Young Professionals 2020 cohort.
